The Saint-Jacob Vault
At the beginning of XVIIe century, the Jesuits came to Aire to found a College there. And, it is into 1682 that Dame Marie de Caverel bequeathed her fortune to associate a vault there.
Of style mannerist, high, one 33 m penetrates there by a gate in blue stone semicircular arch decorated of ringed columns. A large stained glass lights the frontage, formed of 3 stages and surmounted by a pediment at the top of which a gilded sphere carries a cross. The interior preserved its religious decorations. To see: polychromé wood glory. Closed down, this imposing masonry is used now for various cultural events.
