The
Lace of Bailleul Behind the style romano-byzantin, town hall the Saint-VAAST church, has a very beautiful collection of stained glasses recalling the history of the ville. Close to the remarkable war memorial, the HOUSE OF LACE is sheltered in a splendid building of style néo-Flemish. Bailleul is one of the major poles of North-Not-of-Calais where one still practises lace with the hand (manufactured since XVIème century). This school accomodates more than 150 pupils coming from all the area from 6 to 99 years, which make the training of lace to the spindles. Each one can develop to with it its artistic creation through advanced training courses. On the spot, you will discover the work of the lacemakers and the history of this art through didactic exposure; you will be able to even to please you since lace parts are proposed to you with the sale. |

The International Meeting of Lace takes place every three years (1998,2001...) at the time of Sainte-Anne, sponsors lacemakers bailleuloises, a hundred artists of the whole world put forward them technique to achieve under the glance of the public their works of art. |
