Structure
Main building out of brick on a sandstone base. The slightly curved windows are rythmées by a stone chaining. The thirteen bays of the stage are framed by pilasters of Ionic order. The fore-part is crowned by a stamped triangular pediment of the royal weapons, the lighting sun the world, with the currency of Louis XIV " Nec pluribus impar ": Sufficient only with so much to things (in the kingdom of France), I would undoubtedly be enough to control other empires. The fence on street is crowned of a balustrade, the porch supported by four pilasters is capped with a significant pediment representing justice.
History
The first bishop named by the king of France into 1680 is Monseigneur of the BALSAM of SUZE, which receives Louis XIV in his poor wretch house. The monarch encourages it in the rebuilding of a episcopal palate. Monseigneur Louis-Alphonse of VALBELLE succeeds and conceives a more imposing project to him. Construction starts in 1701, interior decoration is luxurious. In 1744, Louis XV places there, then Louis-Philippe in XIXe century.
The Revolution confiscates the episcopal palate which is useful for the provisioning of the armies. In the garden is planted a tree of freedom. In 1794, the municipality installs its services there. In 1795, the garden is sold. Convention issues the new legal organization. This building becomes Siège of the Court of Sitted of Pas-de-Calais sheltering the County Court, the magistrates' court, the juvenile court and the commercial court.
